Foundations and cladding are pulled apart – like a stressed landscape where rock becomes fractured over millennia – to form views, create program and introduce a fluid and natural internal circulation.
Although formally complex, the program is simple and expressed with few materials. Light, materiality and views combine to express the architectural interior. The exterior is drawn into the building at each extremity, drawing visitors to the living room (to the south) and into the home theatre (to the north) where the building's double curvature invites you to step out to the pool and onto the land.
From the living room, a future bridge and deck will allow owners and guests to step out of the house and float across the rail gully to the edge of Lake Ontario's magnificent bluffs.
